StonehamBank Hosts Hometown Huddle with Patriots Players, Donates to Read with Malcolm

June 26, 2018

StonehamBank hosts Hometown Huddle at Stoneham High School with New England Patriots wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell and first round draft pick Sony Michel. Later in the day, a donation was made to Read with Malcolm to promote youth literacy.

The Hometown Huddle was a private event for youth football teams from 10 towns in the Stoneham area. Over 200 children came to Stoneham High School for prizes, music, pictures and an inspirational speech from Mitchell and Michel. Later in the day, Executive Vice President Edward Doherty presented a $1,300.00 check to Mitchell for his foundation Read with Malcolm.

“Giving back to our community is our biggest mission here at StonehamBank,” says Doherty, “We’ve worked with Read with Malcolm for over a year now and continue to appreciate what the foundation embodies not only in our area but around the country as well.”

StonehamBank and Read with Malcolm worked together when StonehamBank sponsored the “Reading Rally with Malcolm Mitchell” for second and third grade students in Stoneham earlier this year. Read with Malcolm emphasizes the importance of reading and aims to get a book in the hands of every child, starting with “The Magician’s Hat” by Malcolm Mitchell. Read with Malcolm’s goal is to end the literacy crisis in America and share the broader message that reading is a necessary skill to fulfill an individual’s potential.

StonehamBank was proud to hold another successful event with Malcolm Mitchell and was happy to welcome Sony Michel to New England. To learn more about StonehamBank and their commitment to the community, visit:
