Council on Aging Able to Purchase New Van with Help of StonehamBank

The town’s Board of Selectmen personally thanked StonehamBank President Janice Houghton and Stoneham Ford proprietor Alan Melkonian for donating $15,000 towards the purchase of a new Senior Center van.

According to Town Administrator David Ragucci, the two business’ $7,500 donation ensured that Stoneham could purchase a brand new vehicle.

The Senior Center has been without a handicapped accessible van for several months, and these generous donations allowed the town not only to purchase a new handicapped accessible van for the seniors, but freed up capital budgeted funds that now can be used for other capital items.

The Council on Aging provides services of nutrition, health, recreation, transportation, informational and referral programs for seniors residing in Stoneham. Its mission is to welcome all to the Senior Center and provide outstanding services to all seniors with kindness, respect, and dignity.
