VP Joseph H. Saling Completes ABA Stonier Graduate School

Stoneham, MA – Joseph H. Saling, Senior Vice President, CIO, COO of StonehamBank, recently graduated from the American
Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Philadelphia.
“Stonier has given me an unparalleled education from the best in the financial services industry as well as the chance to exchange information and ideas with my peers,” said Saling recently.
Stonier is ABA’s national graduate school of banking, an intensive three-year program for bank executives. Students are from the United Statesand international banks of all sizes, as well as state and federal regulatory agencies and other financial services organizations. This is the school’s 78th year, and it was held June 6 - 13, 2013 at the University of Pennsylvania.
“Joe is a key member of the StonehamBank team,” notes President and CEO Janice T. Houghton, “and his training at Stonier will help us identify the challenges our community faces and create permanent solutions.”
Since its inception in 1935, more than 20,000 students have followed a curriculum of more than 45 courses and enjoyed networking opportunities with more than 500 fellow students. Between sessions, students keep up with trends by completing additional extension and online coursework. The program culminates with the Capstone Strategic Project, where students develop comprehensive business projects for their financial institutions.
Mr. Saling started his career at StonehamBank in 1997, working in the Information Technology department. He has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer since 2006 and the Chief Operating Officer since 2010 and currently oversees day to day operations at the bank with a special focus on technology. He is also a newly appointed member of the Stoneham Theatre Board of Trustees.
