Stoneham, MA (MAY 2025) — StonehamBank recently announced its fifth annual Small Business Spotlight Grant winner for 2025.

This year’s winner, Empower Café – has locations in Woburn and Reading and is a health focused café which opened in 2020. Their mission is “…to inspire their community to live a healthy, active and vibrant life filled with happiness, joy and appreciation for others,” explained Founder & CEO Nick Face. He added that he wanted to carry on the legacy of his late mom, Bonny, who was a community activist who supported local organizations as a volunteer and contributor.

Nick noted that the cafés serve items that came from his mother’s recipes, with a focus on healthy foods; and each week the cafés feature local businesses with a Business of the Week certificate and complimentary menu items.

“It is always inspiring to support locally based businesses,” said CEO/President Edward F. Doherty, Jr. “Nick and his crew work every day to keep their customers strong, healthy and feeling appreciated. They also support fellow entrepreneurs in their business endeavors! We are excited to partner with them and provide them with some of the resources they need to fuel their passion and growth.”

Doherty recently presented a $5,000 check to Empower, which Nick noted would be used to continue recognizing small local businesses in the communities they currently serve. “This grant would help me add another valuable member to my team and to add more gifts/donations to our local organizations and allow Empower to reach more amazing growth to expand,” Nick said.

StonehamBank thanks everyone who participated! We’re proud to support the small businesses that make our community shine.
