STONEHAM, MA (NOV 2026) – Again this year, StonehamBank is proud to support the events and programs that honor the men and women who have served our country as a sponsor of this year’s Veterans’ Day celebrations. Recently, StonehamBank team member Mary Celli, presented a check to Committee member Lisa Gallagher to support the activities that recognize the courage, sacrifice and dedication of local veterans in all branches, and helping to ensure that these meaningful events continue to bring residents together in gratitude and remembrance.
From November 6 through November 15, Stoneham will host its seventh annual Field of Honor® (the Field) to honor service members, veterans and first responders. Over five hundred flags will be displayed at the corner of Central and William Streets and Taps will be played daily at 5 pm. Each flag bears a tag with the name of a beloved veteran and/or first responder and their branch of service. The Field will open to the Public on Friday, November 6 at 3pm and the Opening Ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 7 at 2pm. The Closing Ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 15 at 12noon.
In addition, a Veterans’ Day Ceremony (11/11) will be held at Stoneham Town Hall at 10:30am and the annual 5k & 11k road races will begin at 11:30am. There will also be a brief ceremony at William F. Buckley Park at 11:45am.
StonehamBank team member and Field of Honor Committee member Maria Cimina – a long-time volunteer at both the road race and the Field - recruits volunteers among her co-workers to serve at the Field at various days and times. “Supporting veterans and their families has always been important to me,” Maria says, “because their service makes it possible for all of us to live, work, and pursue our daily lives with freedom and peace of mind. The sacrifices they and their families make for our country should never be taken for granted. I am proud to be part of a Bank that honors their commitment through both charitable giving and volunteerism."
